“Web3Sap2023 Manifesto”
There was certainly ” passion” in it.
Web3Sap, which started in July last year at the request of the NoMaps general producer and at the initiative of our Blockchain Strategy and Policy Institute, opened in October after what could be described as a rush of preparation. At the EZOHUB, the venue of the event, 15 speakers invited from various regions shared their knowledge and experience in their respective fields and discussed how the brand-new Web3 movement based on blockchain technology could be utilized in local communities and what could be done in Hokkaido using Web3. A “feverish” discussion ensued.
After almost a year, we are pleased to announce that this year’s event will be held again in Sapporo, Japan. 1 year alone has not been enough time for the Web3 movement to take root in Hokkaido. However, Web3 in Japan and around the world is making great strides. With the formulation and publication of the white paper by the LDP Web3 PT, Web3 policy has also made its way into the Japanese government’s Framework Policy. This is a sign that the government is strongly supporting the Web3 movement on a national level. In response to this move by the government and the Liberal Democratic Party, major Japanese companies are also making major investments in the Web3 movement and establishing Web3-related subsidiaries.
Looking at the situation outside of Japan, the FTX incident in the U.S., which occurred immediately after the last Web3Sap, has triggered government authorities in various countries to tighten regulations, and the “crypto winter” season, in which crypto prices have also fallen significantly, is continuing. Even now, the trend of tightening regulations has not stopped, with the U.S. authorities filing lawsuits against major crypto asset exchanges. The impact of this trend has been felt in the EU and other developed countries as well. In El Salvador and the Central African Republic, where Bitcoin is the legal tender, the use of crypto is proving effective as the value of the local currency is becoming unstable due to manipulation by powerful countries. This is proving to be the case. While the world seems to be moving toward regulation, Japan has already been ahead of the world in developing laws and regulations concerning crypto assets, and the world may be said to be following in Japan’s footsteps. In such a situation, Japan is trying to be the first country in the world to positively promote Web3, and this is a great opportunity for Japan.
In addition, a worldview in which the world is united through globalization has long been populated as a value to aim for. The world has been in a state of turmoil since the Lehman Shock of 2008. The current global turmoil may be a harbinger of a new movement to emerge, given that Bitcoin, which became the technical basis of Web3, emerged during the global turmoil of the Lehman Shock in 2008. I believe that each day Hokkaido and its cities, towns, and villages are experiencing firsthand that even though they are physically distant from the world, through value, logistics, and information space, they are in a direct relationship with the global movement and new movement.
In this chaotic situation, we are thinking about blockchain technology, which could be a new bud that leads to the next generation, and the Web3 movement based on it, and how it can impact our lives and give new value, how it can successfully develop communication with our peers and others, and how it can be used to We hope to discuss with speakers and visitors with “enthusiasm” at Web3Sap, as we did last year, how we can influence and bring new value to our lives, how we can successfully develop communication with peers and others, and how we can build new governance of organizations that move value and people.
This year again, we will invite experts to the EZOHUB in Sapporo and hold a conference called “Strategy Meeting” to find the breath of life for the next generation in this confusing world of the Web3 movement.
We hope many of you will come and watch the show.
We hope that everyone can feel the “heat” of this year’s event.
